A friend recently gave me a gift card to AMOMI Pregnancy Wellness Spa in Phoenix and said they had the best therapists in town. Now my childbearing days are decades behind me so I thought there was nothing that this medispa could offer me. WRONG! AMOMI is definitely a place for any woman. Although all of the therapists are trained to accommodate the special needs and conditions that come with pregnancy, AMOMI offers a full-service spa menu including massages, body treatments, facials, manicures, pedicures, and laser hair removal.
The reception area is fresh and inviting with colorful displays of products for expectant moms and the rest of us. The spa was created by three female OBs and shares space with their high-risk OB practice.
The locker room has a spacious walk-in shower and a generous sized vanity area with plenty of products to sample. The lemongrass cream by Ola turned my skin into silk and smelled like a Hawaiian breeze.
After I slipped into a comfy robe and slides, I sampled some white tea and pomegranate-flavored gummy bears packed with vitamins for the mamas-to-be. Fun way to get your vitamins!
The massage therapist, Danielle, welcomed me warmly and made me feel pampered by adjusting the lighting, room temp, music level and leg pillow just the way I like it. Her prenatal training really came through. She applied pressure to just the right places in my stiff neck and tired legs to get the maximum “ahhh” response out of me. The super soft bamboo sheets were so luxurious against my skin I would have been happy to nap the rest of the day on them.
Lucky expectant moms to have a place that will pamper them through those long nine months…and lucky me to have discovered this gem!
Summer is here and that means one thing….pack those bags and hit the road! One of my favorite summer getaways when the desert starts to sizzle is to the cool red rock country of Sedona. This picturesque town in northern Arizona is home to some world-class spas, shopping and outdoor adventures. It’s the perfect backdrop for a little R&R. You’ll be able to read more about my Sedona spa visits coming later this month in our Critiques section. Surprisingly, one of my favorite experiences there wasn’t at one of the pricey resort spas, but at A Spa for You Sedona Day Spa, a tiny converted cottage tucked away behind the town’s fire station. Wow! It’s hard to believe that three years ago Margaret and I were sitting in Prague on a winter day feasting on sausage rolls and hot mulled wine while hatching a plan to turn our passion for spa travel into a legitimate business. Now here we are, thousands of air miles later, with more than 100 spa visits under our belts and ready to share our experiences with you.
Between the two of us, we have visited spas in Thailand, Hungary, Mexico, Canada, Iceland, Indonesia, Czech Republic, Egypt, China, Brazil, South Africa and Spain. We have also been soaked, rubbed and scrubbed in spas all over the US including Arizona, California, Nevada, Washington, New Mexico, Texas, Tennessee, New York, Hawaii, and South Carolina.
