Location: Spa Ethos, Vancouver, BC, Canada
Category: Day Spa
Price Range: ($75-$290) Facials ($101-$180) Body Treatments ($75-$135)
Signature Treatments: Look Better Naked, Ethossage
Treatments Received: Reflexology, Look Better Naked, Therapeutic Hand and Foot Treatment
Summary: What a great first impression! The flower-filled planters flanking the entrance, a light and airy reception/retail area and a staff that is welcoming and efficient got things off to a great start. Spa Ethos is an inviting urban sanctuary UNTIL you step into the women’s dressing room. The tidy but extremely tight space had barely enough room for more than two people at a time and lacked adequate locker space and bathroom cubicles. There was also a lack of basic amenities in the vanity area, and the towels and robes were of average quality. It’s these shortcomings that keep it from being a perfect gem.
Many of the spa’s other features were stellar. The cocoon-like relaxation lounge is filled with rich hued fabrics and pillows, candlelight and a cozy fireplace. The refreshment bar offered a selection of delicious and unique teas, water and apples.
The spa menu offers a nice mix of treatments for every taste and budget. Therapists Tessa and Jamie were first-class in their demeanor and execution of the treatments. The pacing never felt rushed, and the comfy treatment beds with their warm duvets made me wish an hour had twice as many minutes.
For guests who want to linger over a spa lunch, Spa Ethos offers a limited selection of spa-inspired meals with a 24-hour advance notice. Choices include chicken, seafood or vegetarian spa salads.
Friendly staff, skilled therapists, and reasonable prices make Spa Ethos worth a visit.
