Altira Spa has 10,000sq ft of space that is perfectly designed to give you a feeling of space, privacy, and a treatment experience in a high-tech setting with a world class view.
Situated on the 19th floor of the luxurious Westin Grand Hotel, the spa hosts 15 treatment rooms including a specialized hydrothermal-capsule room, amongst others. It also offers a heated indoor lap pool, Jacuzzi, waterbed room, large sauna (overlooks the city) and steam rooms, and a hot marble slab to complete a total body sensory experience. There is a fitness center, a hair salon and spa menu food for your eating pleasure.
I could hang out in this place all day. Normally, I am not so crazy about super-modern contemporary design but Altira Spa is able to pull off the truly African contempo look with a serenity and warmth normally not found in such design. The spa wraps around two sides of the hotel offering you maximum visual advantage to the Waterfront and yacht marina below. What a view!
The hot waterbeds were a delight – just get my favorite book and let me hang out here! I had a 90 minute therapeutic massage which was expertly performed and I “rested” on the hot waterbed after that…is this too much decadence? I really liked the treatment room I was in. It was roomy, low-lit, very nice feel to it although the table was a little bit too hard yet had extra wide arm extensions. The music was consistent throughout the spa, very soothing and comforting. I really enjoyed the entire experience.
